Egyptian governor: Russian plane that crashed lacked security

He stressed that security is at the highest level in the city of Sharm el-Sheikh and at its airport. The governor added that the city has the capacity to receive a large number of tourists.

The governor emphasized the importance of opening direct air route between Sharm el-Sheikh and Baku after mutual visits, noting the existence of huge opportunities for tourist relations between Azerbaijan and Egypt to expand.

“I think that there is a great potential for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Egypt not only in tourism, but also in other fields. I should note that Egypt and Azerbaijan enjoy close diplomatic relations,” he said.

The governor further gave detailed information on existing tourism potential of Sharm el-Sheikh. He noted that there are great prospects of sports tourism in Sharm el-Sheikh.

“There are five different parks in the territory of the governor's office. We have already set a goal to establish green, ecological city,” he added.

Information tour to Sharm el-Sheikh, Cairo and Alexandria cities was organized for representatives of the Azerbaijani media on June 10-17.
