Baku – APA. A Cairo criminal court sentenced ousted Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi on Saturday to life in jail on charges of spying for Qatar, APA reported citing Sputnik International.
The trial, which was broadcast by Egyptian television.
Morsi and fellow members of his Muslim Brotherhood party were accused of passing army and state security secrets to Qatar in order to weaken the Egyptian state. The former president said he did not recognize the jurisdiction of the new authorities.
