Baku-APA.The death toll from Monday's multiple bombings in Nigeria's northwestern state of Kano doubled to 24 on Tuesday, according to latest media reports, APA reports.
A local hospital said 24 people have died from the bombings and three more were still in its emergency ward.
Earlier, Ikedichi Iweha, spokesperson of the military-led Joint Task Force (JTF) in Kano State, said in a statement that 12 people have been killed in the blasts, which occurred just after 9 p.m. (21:00 GMT) Monday night in an area densely populated by Christians.
Sporadic shooting ensued in the area, sequel to the explosions.
Kano State has witnessed waves of violence, mostly perpetrated by the militant sect of Boko Haram. Thousands of people have been killed in northern and central parts of Nigeria since the sect launched insurgency in 2009.
