Baku-APA. One Lebanese was killed and 14 others injured during clashes in Lebanon's northern port city of Tripoli, APA reports.
The clashes took place between the Sunnite neighborhood of Bab El Tebbaneh and mostly Alawite Jabal Mohsen.
A Lebanese security source confirmed to Xinhua that Lebanese army responded to the clashes, but failed to calm the situation.
The clashes between the two feuding neighborhoods started Monday night "following the appearance of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in an interview with a local TV station," the source said.
The clashes continued overnight and interrupted daily life of the city on Tuesday: shops were closed; schools did not open; and traffic on the northern International Highway was slow.
