Baku-APA. Eleven Cameroonian bus passengers were killed on Thursday by suspected militants of the Nigerian Islamic sect Boko Haram in Far-North Region of Cameroon bordering Nigeria, said an army source on Friday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

All the victims are male and the attacked bus was taken away by the militants. "There were women in the bus but they were spared the ill fate," the source, who request anonymity, told Xinhua by phone.

It is not the first tragedy which gripped the region this week. More than one dozen truck drivers were killed in Mora in Far-North Region of Cameroon by suspected Boko Haram militants on Tuesday.

Boko Haram militants, who are active in the north of Cameroon, often attack the villages in the area, pillage properties of the villagers and sometimes take foreign and local people as hostages.

The Cameroonian government has strengthened the military might by sending more troops in the north to fight against the militants since 2014.
