Baku-APA. Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi received his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul Tuesday evening at Cairo International Airport, where they discussed bilateral ties and economic cooperation between Egypt and Turkey, APA reports citing official news agency MENA.

Gul arrived in Cairo on an official visit to attend the 12th summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation slated for Feb. 6-7.

Before leaving Ankara Esenboga Airport, Gul told reporters that he would discuss with Morsi bilateral relations as well as recent regional and international developments.

"I will reiterate our strong support for the historical transitional period in Egypt. Our support will continue in a determined way over the problems Egypt faces in this process," said Gul.

He said his visit will help further enhance the cooperation between Turkey and Egypt in every field. "Trade volume between the two countries was up by over 50 percent since 2008, and has exceeded 5 billion U.S. dollars in 2012."
