Baku-APA. Egypt's presidency spokesman Yasser Ali said Thursday that President Mohamed Morsi has appointed Talat Aboullah as new prosecutor general, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
Morsi announced a presidential decree to oust the current prosecutor general Abdel-Maguid Mahmoud on Oct. 11, one day after the Criminal Court decided to acquit all defendants accused of attacking peaceful protesters at Cairo's Tahrir Square in what is known as "camel battle" during the anti-government protests last year.
However, Morsi agreed on Oct. 13 that Mahmoud could keep his job after the prosecutor general said that he would stick to his office to defend the judiciary immunity ensured by the constitutional declaration and the judiciary laws.
