Baku-apA. Egypt's President Mohamed Morsi met Wednesday with a U.S. delegation led by Senator John McCain over the latest regional development as well as the bilateral ties, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The two sides discussed Egypt's democratic transition, its efforts to support the Palestinian reconciliation, ways to stop the ongoing bloodshed in Syria and the U.S. support to the Egyptian economy.

McCain met early Wednesday with Egyptian Prime Minister Hesham Qandil and some members of the country's main opposition bloc named "the National Salvation Front."

McCain, currently in a three-day visit to Egypt, also met Tuesday with Egyptian Defense Minister Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi over the enhancement of military cooperation between the two countries.

The United States has been providing Egypt with 1.3 billion U.S. dollars in military aid every year since Egypt signed a peace treaty with Israel in 1979.
