Baku-APA. The Egyptian authorities uncovered Friday a cache containing six advanced anti-tank, anti-aircraft missiles in south of Arish city in North Sinai, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

"The six missels are U.S.-made. They were hidden in a large depot at the area of Baer al-Hafn in Arish and arranged to be smuggled to Gaza through the border smuggling tunnels," said the security source, who preferred to be anonymous, adding that the missiles were intact and ready for use with launching pads and they might have been smuggled from Libya.

Last month, the Egyptian security forces uncovered a similar depot in the same area containing 17 French-made missiles.

Security conditions in Sinai have been deteriorating since Egypt's upheaval in 2011, with militants constantly attacking police stations and checkpoints, Bedouins kidnapping foreign tourists several times, and the Egyptian pipeline exporting natural gas to Israel and Jordan having been attacked more than 10 times.
