Baku-APA. Egyptian Defense Minister Abdel- Fattah al-Sisi held talks Tuesday with a U.S. delegation led by Senator John McCain over methods to enhance military cooperation between the two countries, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The talks tackled the recent regional developments and the issues of mutual concern in light of the depth of the Egyptian- American relations.

The U.S. delegation commended the national role of the Egyptian armed forces during the transitional stage until the military handed over power to the country's first elected civilian president.

The meeting was attended by senior Egyptian military leaders as well as U.S. Ambassador to Egypt Anne Patterson.

The United States has been providing Egypt with 1.3 billion U.S. dollars in military aid every year since Egypt signed a peace treaty with Israel in 1979.
