Baku-APA. At least seven people were killed and four others injured on Friday in tribal clashes between Al- Gimir and Bani Halba tribes in Sudan's South Darfur State, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

"Six members of Al-Gimir tribe were killed and two injured in an attack by an armed group from Bani Halba tribe against two villages of Katela locality," Abdalla Ishaq, the commissioner of Katela locality in South Darfur State, told Xinhua.

He added that the death toll could increase due to the tensed situation between the two parties, reiterating that the conflict was of a tribal nature and that the state's government arrived at the area to contain the events between the two sides.

Meanwhile, Qadeer Dikain, a leading native administration figure at Edal-Firsan locality in South Darfur State, for his part, told Xinhua that "one person from Bani Halba tribe was killed and two others injured in the clashes which took place between Al- Gimir and Bani Halba tribes."

Tribal violence has mounted in Sudan's Darfur region during the past months which pushed the United Nations-African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) to urge the conflicting parties to avoid whatever may threaten the peace in the restive region.
