Baku-APA. The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has arrested 11 people on suspicion of human trafficking in West Africa, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Area comptroller for the service at the Seme Border Command Julius Ogbu on Thursday said five boys and six girls were arrested in the case. "Immigration operatives arrested the human trafficking suspects at Owode and Seme on Tuesday while crossing to Benin Republic," he added.

Ogbu said the suspects had been handed over to the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and Other Related Matters (NANTIP) for further investigation and prosecution.

The comptroller said the girls, who were headed for Mali, had no valid travel documents, while the boys were being taken to Cotonou, Benin.
