Governments Warn of AU Summit Terror Threats

Baku – APA. Australia has warned its citizens in Ethiopia that terrorists may be plotting bomb attacks during the African Union summit in Addis Ababa this week, APA reports quoting “The Voice of Americaâ€.
Australia’s foreign ministry issued the security alert on its website Wednesday, and diplomats from the United States, Britain and other Western countries said their governments are preparing similar statements.
The Australian government warned it has credible information that extremists plan to target Western interests and bomb unspecified locations in Addis Ababa.
The African Union summit will be held Sunday and Monday, but some leaders are arriving early for a peace and security meeting on Friday.
The summit is expected to draw 25 heads of state and government. French President Nicolas Sarkozy is set to address the opening session on Sunday.
