In January 2018, Azerbaijan’s State Border Service (SBS) has detained 45 people for trespassing the state border, APA reported.
According to the SBS, 12 of them are Azerbaijani, 13 Uzbek, 6 Georgian, 3 Pakistani, 2 Iranian, 2 Moroccan, 1 Russian, 1 Tajik, 1 Congolese, 1 Iraqi, 1 Jordanian, 1 Sri Lankan and 1 Turkish citizen.
Relevant measures have been taken on 29 people for violating the rules of the border regime.
Some 1,145 people were not allowed to cross the border due to the fact that they had violated the rules of the border regime, as well as were banned from leaving the country, 93 people due to the fact that they were banned to enter the country, 202 people for not having a visa, 130 people for expired visa and passports, 64 people for not having relevant documents, 90 people for the extended stay in the country and 142 people for not having the power of attorney.
As a result of crime prevention measures, 375 people wanted by Azerbaijani law-enforcement bodies were detained and handed over to relevant authorities.
17.913kg narcotics and 2,269 psychotropic drugs were confiscated as a result of measures against illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
Azerbaijan’s border guards also managed to prevent the smuggling of goods worth over 1,246,309 million manats, including contraband with a total value of 1 million 246,309 thousand manats, including 1 shotgun, 3 units of 9 mm cartridges, 4 boats, 1 night vision device, 2,000 Iranian rials, 30.5 million Russian rubles, 6,628 boxes of pyrotechnics, 5,990 boxes of cigarettes, and 197 illegal mobile phones.
