Number of voluntary blood donors rises in Azerbaijan

During the first nine months of this year, around 100,000 people voluntarily donated blood at the Republican Blood Bank and its regional branches, the Republican Blood Bank under the Ministry of Health said in response to APA’s inquiry.

The number of donors in the same period last year was about 93,000.

The demand for blood and its components has been fully met

The Ministry of Health reported that a total of 126,234 people applied to the Republican Blood Bank (including its central office and eight regional branches) last year, of whom 124,148 became blood donors.

During the reporting period, all requests from medical institutions for blood and blood components were fulfilled, and the required amounts were supplied.

Awareness campaigns are increasing public interest in blood donation

In recent years, the growing volume of medical services has also increased the demand for blood and its components. The Ministry noted that thanks to awareness and promotion activities supported by the Ministry of Health’s Media and Communication Department, public interest in blood donation has been rising in the country.

The Republican Blood Bank regularly organizes blood donation campaigns to maintain and expand reserves, ensuring continuous replenishment through voluntary donors. The main goal is to provide timely and reliable access to blood and its components for all recipients across the country, regardless of blood type.
