Autumn has arrived in Azerbaijan, the Department of Astrophysics at Baku State University’s Faculty of Physics told APA.
This moment is known as the autumnal equinox.
Astronomical autumn has begun in the Northern Hemisphere, while astronomical spring has started in the Southern Hemisphere.
From now on, daylight hours in the Northern Hemisphere will gradually shorten, while nights will become longer.
In 2026, astronomical autumn will last 89 days, 21 hours, 45 minutes and one second. It will end with the winter solstice on December 22, marking the beginning of astronomical winter in the Northern Hemisphere and astronomical summer in the Southern Hemisphere.
