Azerbaijan says economically active population exceeds 4.341 million

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. As at October 1, 2010, Azerbaijanâ€™s economically active population reached 4 341.3 thousands, of which 4 082.4 thousands are employed in different spheres of economy and social sectors, said the State Statistical Committee.

SSC says the list number of the hired workers was 1 358.4 thousands including average list number was 1 343.1 thousands which 854.4 thousands was in state sector, 488.7 thousands in non-state sector.

20.1% of hired workers in enterprises and organizations employed in production sector including 2.6% in mining industry, 5.9 % in processing industry, 2.2% in electric energy gas, steam and conditioned air sphere, 1.6% in the sphere of water supply, cleaning of dirty waters and wastes, 4.9% in construction, 2.9% in agriculture, 25.6% of service workers employed in education, 19.9% in wholesale and retail trade, repair of cars and motorcycles, 10% in health and social services to population, 5.7% in transport and storehouse economy, 4% in rest, entertainment and culture sphere, 3.9% in state management and protection, compulsory social guarantee, 3.2% in activity of profession, science and technique, 1.8% in information and communication, 1.5% in finance and insurance sphere and other.

Employment agencies listed 39 400 people as jobless, of which 43.5% were women.
