Kamaladdin Heydarov: Meeting was held under Azerbaijani President in connection with the elimination of the consequences caused by the Kura River

Kamaladdin Heydarov said measures were being taken to prevent the flood, turn the water to a safer direction. Instructions have been given to the Health Ministry, Transport Ministry, Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry, “Melioration and Water Management†Open Stock Company to take urgent measures to provide the people with medicines, doctors, prevent possible infectious diseases.
“The people should know that unless the consequences are eliminated they must move with the help of and in the direction shown by the employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and local executive structures. All conditions have been created for them, tents set up, they have been supplied with food. Instructions have been given to the local structures to help some residents who want to move to their relatives’ houses,†he said.
Heydarov noted that the head of state had set tasks to Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and other ministries connected with the settlement of problem now and then together with foreign experts.
Touching upon information about “water drain above the norm from Khudaferin water storage located in the occupied Azerbaijani territories into the Araz River caused the floods in the Kura River in Sabirabad and Shirvanâ€, Heydarov said that investigations were underway on the situation.
The Minister also noted that experts had observed the flooded areas, ploughed fields, houses, pump stations: “Works were carried out for 20 days in Salyan region. At that time 15 000 sand bearings, and then 10 000 sand bearings, personnel consisting of 760 persons were sent for reinforcement of dams. They were doing measures there. But 2 days before 400 000 pouches were ordered for picking sand. Reinforcement works have been started in some places. Today works have become more intense after the daytime. Personnel of the related bodies also have been involved in the area. A lot of techniques ate working in the area. There is no need to worryâ€. The Minister said that security measures were being taken on the basis of the instructions of the president due to prevent future catastrophes.
Lately happened cataclysms in the world, Heydarov noted that such situations happen in several countries: “There happen big catastrophes in the world. Fortunately, such seditions don’t occur in our country. Recently there were recorded landslips in Azerbaijan. Such incidents are analyzed by us and appropriate measures are being taken for their preventionâ€.
