Bakı. Nicat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. The marriage rate fell 9.2 from to 8.9 marriages per 1 000 people in Azerbaijan last year, continuing the gradual trend of a declining marriage rate, said the State Statistical Committee.
The divorce rate remained unchanged.
In total 78 900 marriages and 7 800 divorces were registered in the country in 2009.
Average marriages rate for first marriages was 27% for men and 23 for women.
152 200 births or 17.3 babies per 1 000 people were registered. Of the newborns, 54.1% are boys and 45.9% girls. Also, 1 710 twins and 33 triplets were born during this period.
The most popular name for girls were Fatima, Zehra, Fidan, Nuray, and Nermin and the most popular names chosen by parents for boys were Ali, Mahammad, Huseyn, Murad, Nihad and Kenan.
Child mortality rate was 2.3 dead born babies per women on average.
The mortality rate per 1 000 dropped to 5.9 from 6. In total 52 deaths were registered.
