Baku. Agshin Rafigoglu – APA-Economics. In January-March 2016, 11,835,900 tonnes of cargo were transported through Azerbaijan part of TARCECA. Cargo turnover made 2,314.1 mln ton/km.
According to State Statistical Committee, 7,590,200 tonnes or 64.1% of cargos were transported by motor transports, 3,190,800 tonnes or 27.0% by railway transport and 1,054,900 tonnes or 8.9% by sea transport.
Compared to a year earlier, the cargos transported via the corridor fell 12.4%. This was caused by decline in cargo transportations via railway and sea transport (relevantly 24.7% and 44.0%). Freight via motor transport rose 2.8%.
14.7% or 1,738,100 tonnes of transported cargos made transit cargos.
In January-March 2016, 82.7 mln passengers were transported via the corridor, up 2.3% compared to a year earlier. Passenger turnover made 1,663,600, up 1.3% in comparison with 2015.
