Baku. Agshin Rafigoglu – APA-Economics. In January-April 2016, 15,707,400 tonnes of cargo were transported through Azerbaijan part of TARCECA. Cargo turnover made 3,044.8 mln ton/km.
According to State Statistical Committee, 10,090,700 tonnes or 64.2% of cargos were transported by motor transports, 4,233,200 tonnes or 27.0% by railway transport and 1,383,500 tonnes or 8.8% by sea transport.
Compared to a year earlier, the cargos transported via the corridor fell 12.4%. This was caused by decline in cargo transportations via railway and sea transport (relevantly 24.7% and 44.0%). Freight via motor transport rose 2.8%.
14.4% or 2,261,900 tonnes of transported cargos made transit cargos.
In January-April 2016, 109.7 mln passengers were transported through the corridor, up 2.2% compared to a year earlier. Passenger turnover made 2,211,900, up 1.1% in comparison with 2015.
