He noted that “AzÉ™rkosmos” Company, which is the first satellite operator in the Caucasus, is successfully operating.
“Having turned out to be a country of cosmic industry, Azerbaijan is working to send new satellites into space. The are two satellites that are currently operating – . ‘AzÉ™rspace-2’ and ‘AzÉ™rsky’,” he stressed.
The minister spoke about the preparation and sending into space of the third satellite in the near future, saying this project which will be joined by US, Canadian, and French companies will be greatly efficient for our country.
“This project will be developed by a US company and the financing will be carried out by Canada’s Export-Import Bank. “AzÉ™rspace-2” satellite will be sent into space in 2017. Azerbaijan will rent the satellite’s orbital position from Intelsat Company for 25 years. One year after the satellite is sent into space, “AzÉ™rkosmos” Company will make the payment at the expense of the incomes. At that time, the satellite will already be able to finance itself. The other great benefit from this to our country is that the satellite will be in a new group. That is, there will be radar satellites made with new technology in that group. And that will allow Azerbaijan to boost its telecommunication capabilities and expand its observation of the earth,” he said.
