Baku. Ramiz Mikayiloglu - APA. Deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov clarified the issue on simplification of customs procedure regarding usage of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.
APA reports that Sharifov said the simplification cannot be unilateral and this issue must be agreed with Turkey and Georgia: “We think that after launch, Baku-Tbilisi-Kars will be useful for us and cargo carriers. The matter is about cargo carriers, no problem will arise related to passengers. We want this corridor to be attractive for cargo carriers. Common tariff should be applied to this corridor. Common tariff will be applied to cargos transporting from Aktau, Turkmenbashi to Azerbaijan, from Azerbaijan to Georgia and other countries”.
Sharifov added that the transit cargo carriers face problems in Azerbaijan today: “A transit cargo carrier gets a tariff from Caspian Sea Shipping Company, and a tariff from Azerbaijan Railways CJSC. I think that these issues should be considered. We must facilitate work of cargo carriers”.
