Half of illegal buildings listed in Azerbaijan’s capital

Head of Executive Power Hajibala Abutalibov told journalists the monitoring showed that the age of some unplanned buildings in the capital is over 100 years old: “There are buildings in Baku, which were constructed in 1900, 1950-70 years and have no documents. Therefore, executive power is developing a list by dividing the buildings into 4 categories - built before 1950, 1975, 2000 and before 2012”.

As a result of the work carried out to date, list of buildings that were built prior to 1950 and 1975 have been developed and submitted to the Cabinet. Currently, the executive power is preparing list of all illegal and unplanned buildings erected before 2000 and 2012. Upon completion of these lists, the documents will be transferred to the Cabinet, after which the decision will be made: “These apartments will be recorded after approval of this document at the Parliament. The number of such apartments is around 400,000”.
