State agencies start monitoring in mobile market of Azerbaijan

Baku. Nicat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. State agencies are monitoring the existing legislation on the mobile market of Azerbaijan.

The director of the Information Centre for ICT Farid Kazimov says, the purpose of the joint efforts of government agencies - to stop the sale of pirated and illegally imported into the domestic market of mobile devices. Currently, government agencies are monitoring retail outlets engaged in selling mobile devices.

According to Kazimov, there are facts in the domestic market on sales of pirated mobile phones sold under the name of famous brands. In order to protect consumers’ rights and ensure legislation, the sale of pirated phones must be stopped and the perpetrators must be punished.

Along with this, the authorities continue the monitoring to detect mobile devices that do not have a certificate of conformity. F.Kazimov believes that these measures are regular steps in the formation of civilized market of mobile devices in Azerbaijan.

â€In recent years, necessary steps have been in order to ensure transparency in the mobile segment of Azerbaijan and bring it to the level of European countries. Adoption of â€œRules for registration of mobile devicesâ€, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers late last year, as well as related activities in implementation of the system of registration of mobile devices is even more accelerated this process. I believe that soon we will receive the fruits of activities aimed directly at protecting consumers’ rightsâ€, said the expert.
