Cargo transportation via railway increases by 18% in Azerbaijan

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev â€“ APA-Economics. Cargo transportation via railway made 2 mln tons, during January, 2012, up 17.6% compared to a year.

According to SSC, average 653 wagons were entrained, 535 wagons were detrained per day. 27.600 tons were entrained on North direction, 5.100 tons â€“ on West directions and 2.800 tons â€“ on South direction.

Cargo turnover rose 6.8% to 703 mln tons-km.

As to passenger transportation via the mentioned transport, 305 thousand passengers were transported during January, down 9.1% compared to last year.
