Transit cargo transportation of TRACECA through Azerbaijan increases

Baku. NIjkat Mustafayev â€“ APA-Economics. In 2011, 53.9 mln tons of cargo and 241.5 mln passengers were transported through Azerbaijan part of TRACECA (Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia), up 4.3% and 8.2% from year earlier.

According to State Statistical Committee, 43.5% of cargos was transported by vehicle, 37.4% - via railway, 19.1% - via sea transport.

30.1% or 16.2 mln tons of cargo transported via corridor made transit cargos, up 263,000 tons or 1.6% from 2010.

AZN 381.7 mln came from cargo transportation, AZN 83 mln â€“ from passenger transportation, up 18.4% and 34.8% from previous year.
