Passenger transportation via railway transport decreases by 27%

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. In 2011, 22.1 mln tons of cargo and 3,488,400 passengers were transported via Azerbaijan’s railway transport, down 1.1% and 27.4% from a year earlier.
Averagely 694 wagons were entrained, 493 – detrained per day. 30,600 tons entraining works were conducted for North direction, 4,500 tons – for West direction and 1,400 tons for South direction.
At the same time, cargo turnover decreased by 5.1% to 7,828.1 mln ton/km, passenger turnover dropped 28% to 660.7 mln passenger/km, during 2011, compared with 2010.
