Limit on manufacturing year of cars for taxi activity removed in Azerbaijan

Ministryâ€™s spokesman Namig Hasanov says, from now on, cars with more than 5 manufacturing year will be allowed for taxi activity, as well.

â€œThe issue on 5 years from the manufacturing year has been deleted.
Because there are such cars, despite long manufacturing year, are in good situation from technical viewpoint, meet technical demands, licence conditionsâ€, he noted.

Remind that, according to conditions applied by the Transport Ministry on licence for taxi activity, licenses maybe given only to cars, manufactured during the last 5 years, not exceeding the period since 2007. But now this rule has been removed. The ministry has considered a number of appeals during the elimination of this rule: â€œThat is why, limit on manufacturing year for taxi cars has been deletedâ€.

Nevertheless, the elimination of this law does not mean that all cars will be allowed for taxi activity. First of all, cars of production of former SSSR and current Russia will not be used as a taxi irrespective from its manufacturing date. Besides, a vehicle must be in good state in order to obtain licence and meet the parameters: â€œThe technical situation of the cars will be inspected seriouslyâ€.
