New metro stations to be constructed in the centre of Baku

This direction will connect the metro station in Baku International Bus Terminal with Azadlig Square, said the Deputy Chairman of Baku Metro Arif Rasulov.

New direction will consist of 6 stations First station will be Avtovagzal, second â€“ Memar Ajami. According to him, for this purpose, Memar Ajami will be changed to transfer station. Third station will be located in Jeyhun Salimov Street â€“ Papanin area. Fourth station will be in below the Sport-Concert Complex named after Heydar Aliyev. Exits will be constructed to several directions, here. Fifth station will be in the behind of Heydar Aliyev Palace. This station will have 4-5 exits. Thereafter, the metro line will continue toward the centre of the city and finish in Azadli Square. Stateion in Azadlig will be last station.

Note that, two parallel tunnels are being drilled in new Avtovagzal station. These works are conducted by Robbins (US) and Herenknecht (Germany) drilling devices.

According to deputy chairman, first three stations are planned to put into operation in 2015-2016. Azadlig Square will be launched in maximum 2018.

Note that, according to affirmed development strategy, number of Baku Metroâ€™s stations will reach 76, distance of tunnels â€“ 119 km. by 2030. 5 free metro directions will operate in Metro.
