Azerbaijan sees 15% rise in transport services during January-May

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev- APA-Economics. In January-May, 2011, the transport services consumed by subjects in transport sector to the different spheres of economy and population was 7.8% higher.

State Statistical Committee (SSC) says 67.5% of service belonged to railway transport, road and pipeline, 8.8% - to sea, 14.1% - to air transport.

80.6 mln tons of cargo was transported via cargo transport, up 5.5% from year earlier. 50.7% of cargos were transported via vehicle, 32.3% - pipeline, 10.6% - railway, 6.4% - sea transport.

570.7 mln persons have been consumed during the same period, up 6.2% compared to a year earlier. 86.2% of passengers used the cars, 13.4% - metro.
