Fares in public transport to be increased in Azerbaijan

To him, the novelties include installation of cameras at all stations, buses and even to all taxi cars, watching of movement schedule of buses by passengers, conducting of monitoring of roads and stations and etc.

The minister said that after the application of these novelties, fares might be reconsidered. That is, fares will be increased: â€œWhen the level of well-being of population rises, the companies functioning in public transport must be interested in investing in this sphere and gain income. Fares will be paid via plastic cards after the application of this systemâ€.

Z. Mammadov did not exclude the increase of fares by the end of this year. According to him, Transport Intellectual Management System is expected to put into operation in September-November, 2011.

Note that, the contract on establishment of Intellectual Management of Transport Operations was signed with Koreaâ€™s SK C&C Company in May, 2008. According to system, the traffic of buses will be regulated. Organization of management of city transport during the emergency situations, gathering, recording and delivering of information on accidents in roads, tunnels, stations and parking places to the relevant organization, will be realized within this system.
