Baku - APA-Economics. The biggest mobile operator in the world, China Mobile, has passed the 600-million-customer milestone, BBC reported.

The company announced that it added 5.9 million customers in March 2011, to reach the total of 600,841,000 by the end of the month — the first operator ever to reach such a number. The figure means China Mobile now has 10.7% of the world’s total of 5.59 billion mobile customers.

The company added that it had 26.9 million 3G customers included in the total on March 31.

Average revenue in the first quarter of 2011 was down from 76 renminbi a month to 67 renminbi ($10.32), but operating revenue in the quarter went up 8.3% to 118.1 billion renminbi ($18.2 billion).
The company said that one of its biggest challenges was increasing mobile penetration in China, plus an intensification of market competition.
