Baku hosts EAPC seminar – UPDATED - PHOTOSESSION
According to APA-Economics, the seminar will last two days and devote to subject of â€Cooperation in the fields of combating against the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, prevention of dual-use goods and technologies smugglingâ€.
Deputy Chairman of State Customs Committee Asger Abdullayev and the Head of the Weapons of Mass Destruction Non-Proliferation Centre Jacek Bylica attended the opening ceremony of the event.
The lectures on Azerbaijan’s control system to export and relevant legislation base, activity of control regime to export on the dual-use goods and technologies, disclosure and risks management, Execution program against proliferation and terrorism of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear weapons, including activity rounds of UN Office of Disarmament Affairs, EU Program on Assistance and Advocacy in the control to export on dual-use, establishment of governmental agencies for coordination of fulfilment of UN Security Council’s declaration # 1540 at national level – review of regional strategies and current experiences will be presented at the first day of event.
Speeches on practical cooperation in fulfilment of UN Security Council’s declaration # 1540: exchange of experience and assistance, activities on initiatives of prevention of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in EAPC countries, fulfilment of UN Security Council’s declaration # 1540 on the background of international initiatives related to prohibition of weapons of mass destruction and related materials, NATO’s practical contribution to the occupation operations in the sea, as well NATO’s contribution on the fulfilment of UN Security Council’s declaration # 1540 will be listened at the second day of seminar.
SCC Deputy Chairman Asger Abdullayev noted that, UN declaration dated to 2004, purposes non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, prevention of dual-use goods and technologies. In accordance to the declaration, Azerbaijan has passed a decision about the law on “Control to export†at the end of 2004. In 2006, Cabinet of Ministers has passed a decision on fulfilment of this law.
According to him, the fulfilment of all received documents for the fulfilment of declaration has been provided: “No problem was observed on this, so farâ€.
