Number of road traffic accidents recorded across Azerbaijan over 2023 decreased by 1.9% to 1,636, according to the information released by the Main Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, APA reports.
941 or 57.5% of them occurred at night and twilight time, as a result of which 591 people died and 718 people were injured.
649 of the accidents were pedestrian accidents, which make up 39.7% of the total traffic accidents. The absolute majority of the accidents resulting in pedestrians being hit occurred in the dark or conditions of limited visibility.
