The petition regarding the extension of the pretrial detention measure selected for Major General Bakir Orujov, who was brought to criminal responsibility in connection with the Tartar case, was considered, APA reports.
The petition was granted at the session of the Military Court.
According to the decision, the term of detention of Bekir Orujov was extended by 3 months.
Other than that a petition was filed regarding the extension of the pretrial detention measure of Rahib Mammadov and Ramil Ahmadov, who were arrested in the same case.
Remind that in December 2021, in the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan, decisions were made regarding the renewal of criminal cases related to the Tartar case. During the investigation carried out after the said decisions, 10 people were brought to criminal responsibility, where reasonable suspicions of torture of individual military personnel, illegal deprivation of liberty, and violation of official powers were established. At present, the preliminary investigation about them continues.
