Smuggling of 63 kg 305 grams of narcotic drugs and 1970 substances like psychotropic pills from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan has been prevented by employees of Horadiz detachment of Border Troops, State Border Service told APA.
Thus, 4 unknown persons were detected to move from Iran in the direction of Azerbaijan at 11:40 p.m on March 9, in the service territory of border group of Horadiz detachment of Border Troops of the State Border Service in Maralli village of Jabrayil.
One of the border violators was observed to flee in the direction of Iran, while three to Azerbaijan.
One suspect, who arrived at the scene of the incident on March 10 at 12:35 a.m, was detained on his way back. He was identified as Abdullayev Mehman Ali, born in 1982, resident of the 1st Shahsevan village of Beylagan region.
During the inspection of 3 bags in the detainee's hands, approximately 63 kg 305 grams of drugs (35 kg 450 grams "heroin", 14 kg 140 grams "methamphetamine", 13 kg 66 grams "marijuana", 55 grams "opium") and 1970 tablet-like psychotropic substances, as well as 10.5 liters of Tchaikovsky alcohol in 6 bottles were found and confiscated.
