"Thanks to the selfless work of Azerbaijani firefighters, the fire was prevented from spreading to the villages in the Chovenli region of the Koycegiz district of Mugla," said chief of the Sabunchu Fire Department of the State Fire Protection Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Lieutenant-Colonel Rashad Bayramov.
He said that according to the information received last night, they were involved in fires in the forest in Chogenli and Chovenli villages: “After the relevant instructions given by the management, we came to this area in 30 vehicles. Fire trucks have been deployed in three directions in this area. Our firefighters encountered an open fire in the area. The most dangerous area in particular was where we stopped. In this difficult terrain due to its geographical location, there was a danger that the fire would spread to the surrounding villages. For this reason, despite the difficult terrain, our firefighters, including me, landed in this area with life ropes. 7 solvent fire pipes were used to extinguish the fire. We managed to put out the fire through fire pipes from 10 o'clock at night to 5 o'clock in the morning. "
"As you know, the main criterion for the spread of the fire is the wind. Strong winds have been blowing in these areas for several days," the lieutenant colonel said.
Bayramov also stressed that Azerbaijani firefighters have extensive experience in extinguishing such fires, as they conduct such operations in the mountains of the country.
