"Cybercrime carried out using artificial intelligence, as well as various types of crimes, are under control by the State Security Service," said Davud Rustamov, head of the State Security Service's Cybersecurity Operations Center, during a panel discussion at the Critical Infrastructure Defense Challenge 2025 (CIDC 2025) conference held in Baku, answering the moderator's question, "What steps are being taken to combat cyberattacks carried out using the capabilities of artificial intelligence, as well as various types of crime?" APA reports.

He emphasized the growing trend in the application of artificial intelligence solutions observed in all areas recently, and spoke about the rapid growth of interest in the use of artificial intelligence for criminal purposes.

D. Rustamov noted that cybercrime and various types of crimes committed using artificial intelligence are monitored by the State Security Service: "It should be noted that a noticeable growth dynamics is observed in the scale of sabotage crimes committed using artificial intelligence in the world. This conclusion is further strengthened by the experience gained during the monitoring of operational conditions, as well as cooperation with partner foreign special services. One of the investigations conducted abroad revealed cases of illegal use of the Large Language Model (LLM). This allows criminal networks to prepare complex scenarios for committing sabotage crimes."
