Bone remains belonging to nearly 800 individuals have been identified in the liberated territories, said Professor Adalat Hasanov, Director General of the Association of Forensic Medicine and Pathological Anatomy, during his speech at the international conference on “Uniting efforts and enhancing cooperation for addressing the issue of missing persons,” APA reports.
He stated that so far, the remains of 187 martyrs have been handed over to their families.
Adalat Hasanov also said that the main problem is related to mass graves: “This problem exists not only in our country but in all countries. Because bone remains belonging to one person are found in mass graves located kilometers apart from each other. Moreover, the bone remains brought from the liberated territories are not compactly buried underground but have been subjected to exposure in open air, rain, snow, and sunlight, which complicates DNA analysis.”
It was reported that blunt instrument and shrapnel wounds were found on the bone remains of 327 individuals discovered in the liberated territories: "Laboratory examinations of the bones belonging to 327 individuals confirmed that they sustained fatal injuries."
