On April 15, at about 3:00 p.m., information was received regarding an explosion in the area of Azerbaijan's Khizi district's Yashma village, said Azerbaijan's General Prosecutor's Office in response to APA's inquiry.
The operational-investigation group, included of employees from the prosecutor's office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, arrived on the scene immediately and took the necessary actions; during the preliminary investigation, it was determined that the cause of the explosion was the removal of the warhead discovered in the mentioned area by Sumgayit residents Bakhtiyar Huseynov (born 1976), Khankishi Guliyev (born 1979), and Rashad Abilov (born 2006).
Khankishi Guliyev and Rashad Abilov died as a result of the incident, and Bakhtiyar Huseynov suffered severe injuries.
Regarding the fact, a criminal case was initiated in the Khizi district prosecutor's office under Article 314.3 of the Criminal Code (negligence causing the death of two or more people).
The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
