Drug smuggling from Iran to Azerbaijan has been prevented on April 13, at 11:50 (GMT +4), the State Border Service of Azerbaijan told APA.
As a result of joint activities carried out by the ‘Goytapa’ border detachment area of the State Border Guard Troops, the smuggling of 20 kilograms of narcotic drugs was prevented.
As a result of the border search and operational measures, Vugar Gurbanov, born in 1982, a resident of Shamkir district was detained as a suspect.
During the inspection of the detained person, narcotics with a total weight of 20 kilograms and 400 grams were found and taken in 2 parcels.
Operational-investigative measures are underway.
