Azerbaijan police detained kidnappers of Pakistani citizens-UPDATED

Azerbaijan police detained people who kidnapped Pakistani citizens and demanded money, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted in response to APA's inquiry.

It was noted that the persons suspected of committing the act were detained and brought under investigation.

Necessary investigative actions are currently being carried out.

Pakistani citizens were kidnapped in Baku, APA reports. 

Citizens of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Khushnam Ali (born in 2003), and Shahzad Ali (born in 1985), applied to the Police Department of Azerbaijan and said that when they arrived in Azerbaijan as tourists, their fellow citizens of Pakistan Mukhtar Mohsin and Abbas Muhammad, and Muzammil Muhammad met them at Heydar Aliyev International Airport and took them to an apartment under the name of providing taxi services, later they tied their hands with a rope and beat them. They threatened them with a cutting tool and seized the 1,500 US dollars and 400 Euros they had on them.

In addition, they were demanded an additional 20,000 USD in exchange for their release.

In connection with the fact, a criminal case was initiated under Articles 144.2.3, 144.2.4, 144.2.5, 144.2.6, 181.2.1, 181.2.5, 182.2.1 and 182.2.3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
