Vagif Jafar oglu Allahverdiyev, who lives in the United States, has also been summoned to the Prosecutor General's Office, APA reports, citing Public Television.
Vagif Allahverdiyev, currently living in the United States and currently identified as Victor Alexander, has been sent an official notice of invitation to the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office in accordance with the requirements of Article 467-13.4 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
It was stated that he should appear at the Main Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office located at 160 Suleyman Sani Akhundov Street, Binagadi District, Baku City, on November 21 of this year at 16:00.
It has been reported that a decision has been made to involve Vagif Allahverdiyev as an accused under Article 281.2 of the Criminal Code. A search has been announced for him because he fled the investigation and is hiding outside the borders of Azerbaijan.
The Binagadi District Court had previously issued a pre-trial detention order for him in absentia on February 23 of this year. On September 18, additions and amendments were made to the charges, and a decision was made to involve Vagif Allahverdiyev as an accused under Articles 220.2 and 281.2 of the Criminal Code.
It was reported that while living in the state of California, USA, he changed his name to Victor Alexander. Between March and May 2017, on unknown dates, he prepared five video messages.
In these videos, he addressed Azerbaijani citizens, calling for actions that would disrupt public order and security, paralyze the functioning of government authorities, influence citizens’ will, and encourage unlawful actions against the legally established and functioning government of the Republic of Azerbaijan, including attempts to forcibly seize and illegally change the existing authority using methods not provided for in the Constitution.
In 2017, he shared these five videos on his YouTube channel “Victor Alexander,” repeatedly distributing content promoting violence to an unlimited audience through internet information resources.
The accused has been warned that in absentia proceedings may be initiated against him, and an in absentia verdict or other final court decisions may be issued.
Vagif Allahverdiyev has been warned that if he fails to appear, in absentia proceedings may be opened against him, resulting in an in absentia verdict or other final court decisions.
