Medical expert says he makes incomplete judgment

The hearing on the case of Orkhan Nadirov, son of Peopleâ€™s Artist Ilhama Guliyeva, Mahir Mirsalamov and Yalchin Hasanov, sons of former Baku and Azizbayov prosecutors Adalat Mirsalamov and Rashid Hasanov, former police and 11 others was held in the Court of Grave Crimes on Wednesday.

Medical expert Zahid Mammadov gave testimony at the process presided by Judge Azer Orujov. The expert said he made incomplete judgment about Mahir Mirsalamov because the accused man passed checkup in the isolator. One therapist attended the checkup and detention conditions prevented them to use other methods of the checkup. The medical expert said Mirsalamov was traumatized when he was born, which caused serious health problems for him. Therefore the accused man needs in checkup. Witness Rufat Chobanov, who avoided giving testimony, was brought to the courtroom. He confirmed that he witnessed one of the accused persons, former police officer Vugar Aliyev received three packages of â€œecstasyâ€ from his friend Ali Ismayilov in December 2007. The public prosecutor demanded the court to stop Vugar Aliyevâ€™s lawyerâ€™s questioning the witness. The judge rejected the prosecutorâ€™s demand. Chobanov said he forgot main points of the event.

Lawyer Zeynalov demanded from judges to commute arrest. The judge will consider petition at the end of the process. Experts examined ecstasies will attend the trial in accordance with claims of lawyers.

The trial was fixed on January 15.

Defendants are accused of drug turnover and usage of it. According to indictment, Orkhan Nadirov, Mahir Mirsalamli, Yalchin Hasanov, Elshan Rustamov, Ali Ismayilov, Zubiya Gulami, Vugar Aliyev, Javidan Aliyev, Ramin Hasanov, Kamila Eyvazova, Elshan Budagov, Hasan Hasanov, Mirali Aliyev faced charges under Article 206 (smuggling), 234.1 (Illegal purchase or storage without a purpose of selling of narcotics or psychotropic substances in a quantity (amount) exceeding necessary for personal consumption), 234.4.1 (Illegal purchase or storage without a purpose of selling of narcotics or psychotropic substances in a quantity (amount) exceeding necessary for personal consumption on preliminary arrangement by group of persons or organized group) of the Criminal Code. Defendants were arrested during operations carried out by officials of National Security Ministry in May, 2008. Ecstasy was confiscated from them.
