Ombudsman appeals to Penitentiary Service to ensure security of Elchin Amiraslanov

Baku. Kamala Gulieva-APA. Officials of Ombudsman’s Office have met with prisoner Elchin Amiraslanov and others in treatment unity of Justice Ministry by the instruction of Elmira Suleymanova, Press Service of Ombudsman’s Office told APA.
Lifer Amiraslonov did not complain about detention condition but he said that his rights were breached in Gobustan jail.
He went on long-term hunger strikes several times to protest preconceived attitude of leadership of jail and detention condition there and he was transferred to treatment unity in the aftermath of hunger strike. He stopped hunger strike here and he was treated in unity and sent back to jail.
The prisoner added that he was not transferred to previous cell repaired by himself. He was placed at the cell not meeting standards and he said that these were all international actions of Chief of jail Kazim Abdullayev. He was undergone tortures by officials of jail many times.
The prisoner went on hunger strike to protest it on November 28, 2008 and he was transferred to treatment unity on December 8. He is being treated in unity, but he added that he would face danger when he returned back to jail.
Ombudsman taking facts into account appealed to Justice Minsitry’s Penitentiary Service to ensure security of Amiraslanov and send him back to previous jail.
