“Ecstasy case” suspect Mahir Mirsalamov has health problem

On Wednesday, the Court of Grave Crimes has continued the trial on the case of Orkhan Nadirov, son of People’s Artist Ilhama Guliyeva, Mahir Mirsalamov and Yalchin Hasanov, sons of former Baku and Azizbayov prosecutors Adalat Mirsalamov and Rashid Hasanov and 11 others. One of the persons on trial Mahir Mirsalamov felt bad before the court session, APA reports. He had blood pressure problem. An ambulance was called to the court. Mirsalamov said he could not attend the court session because of health problem. His lawyer Narmina Mammadova told journalists that Mahir Mirsalamov received treatment at the medical center of the Justice Ministry for two months. The lawyer said his client has had health problems since the preliminary investigative proceedings. He suffers from fainting and heartache. Mammadova said she hoped that the court would take into account his health while issuing the verdict. Judge Azer Orujov said at the beginning of the proceedings that the person on trial Yalchin Hasanov’s lawyer Heydar Asgarov could not attend the court session because death of his mother and asked not to hold proceedings because the lawyer’s absence.

The defendants are accused in illicit drug turnover and use of drugs. According to the indictment, they faced charges under articles 234.1 (illegal manufacturing, purchase, storage, transportation, transfer or selling of narcotics, psychotropic substances) and 234.4.1 (Illegal manufacturing, purchase, storage, transportation, transfer or selling of narcotics, psychotropic substances on preliminary arrangement by group of persons or organized group) of the Criminal Code. They were arrested by the National Security Ministry in May this year.
