Plane with Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister on board made forced landing in Ashgabat Airport

Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan told APA that the plane had made a forced landing in Ashgabat Airport because of unfavorable weather in Baku. 141 of 211 passengers were on the way to Baku. Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Abid Sharifov was also in the plane. Foreign Ministry said official Ashgabat had taken all necessary measures to provide the passengers on the way to Baku with transport. All the necessary conditions were provided in Ashgabat airport for the passengers on the way to Baku. Later the passengers were sent to Baku by Boeing-737 owned by Turkmenistan Airlines.

Foreign Ministry said urgent measures taken by Turkmenistan’s government agencies were the example of friendship and peaceful brotherhood relations between Azerbaijani and Turkmen people.
“These goodwill actions once more demonstrate close and transparent relations between our countries.”

Azerbaijan Airlines CSC told APA that Airbus-340 owned by Lufthansa failed to land in Heydar Aliyev International Airport because of technical problems and the plane made a forced landing in Ashgabat Airport.
AzAL said the passengers had been sent to Baku by Boeing-737 provided by Turkmenistan and reached Baku at 9.40.
