Human rights defender meets with Yalchin Hasanov going on hunger strike in jail

Baku. Hafiz Heydarov – APA. Chief of Azerbaijani Committee against Torture Elchin Behbudov has visited jail #1 today. Behbudov told APA that he had met with Yalchin Hasanov, son of former prosecutor of Azizbayov Rashid Hasanov. Yalchin Hasanov is going on hunger strike for six days. Human rights defender said Hasanov did not complain of detention conditions. Hasanov said that criminal case was being investigated unfairly. Behbudov said Yalchin Hasanov begun hunger strike because of that on December 5.
The committee chief also met with residents of Gelegah village Tevekkul and Elnur Ismayilovs accused of killing Naila and Reyhane Majidovas, residents of Dagh Biliji village of Devechi region. Elchin Behbudov said they had not complained of their detention conditions either. Behbudov noted that the defendants said they underwent torture in Devechi region police office in 2007. Ismayilov brothers also said they were dissatisfied with the investigation of the case.
