Baku. Kamala Guliyeva – APA. “There are 180 prisoners in every 100,000 in Azerbaijan,” Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova said, APA reports. The ombudsman said the number of prisoners had fallen by 13,000.
“I believe that this figure will continue to fall. 8 amnesty and 45 pardon decrees have been issued in Azerbaijan since 1994,” she said.

Elmira Suleymanova said the number of prisoners was less compared with other countries.
“There are 600-700 prisoners in every 100,000 in most countries. The number of prisoners increased from 6,000 up to 20,000 in the past four years in Georgia,” she said.
